New Delhi: Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee Saturday expressed confidence that his team Trinamool Congress (TMC) will win the assembly elections by securing more than 200 seats in the state. Addressing polling agents through video conferencing, he dismissed exit poll projections and termed them as attempts to ‘manipulate the stock market’.“We won and won in 200+ seats. Exit polls are nothing but an attempt to manipulate the stock market. They did it in 2021, 2024 and now,” according to ANI.He accused the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) of atrocities against TMC workers and assured that the victims would be rewarded by the party.“In the coming days the party will reward those who faced the brutality of the CAPF,” he said.BJP spokesperson Amit Malviya said his comments came amid re-polling in two centers in South 24 Parganas district after he alleged that voters in several polling stations under Diamond Harbor constituency were prevented from choosing the party candidate during the second phase of the state Assembly elections.Also Read | Bengal repolling: BJP, TMC supporters clash in South 24 Parganas; Heavy Security Deployment – VideoThe re-polling, held amid tight security, witnessed significant voter turnout. According to officials, the voter turnout across 11 polling booths in Magrahat West Assembly reached 72.5 per cent, while four booths in Diamond Harbor recorded 72.36 per cent, taking the combined polling to 72.43 per cent till 3 pm on Saturday.Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel have been deployed near the polling stations to ensure no disruption, while micro-observers are maintaining a close vigil.The process is also being monitored from the Kolkata Election Commission office to ensure transparency and adherence to guidelines.Meanwhile, exit poll estimates suggest a tight electoral contest in West Bengal, with several organizations pointing to an advantage for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), even as others indicate a tight contest.The West Bengal Assembly elections were held in two phases on April 23 and April 29 The results of the high-stakes election will be announced on May 4
