West Bengal polls: ED arrests I-PAC director and co-founder | India News
New Delhi: Ten days after the ED conducted searches at multiple premises in Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Mumbai on officials of political consultancy firm I-PAC, whose clients include Trinamool and DMK, the agency on Monday arrested one of its directors and co-founder Vinesh Chandel. He will be produced before a special court in Delhi for custodial interrogation. Chandel’s arrest comes in connection with the ED’s ongoing probe against I-PAC in a money laundering case linked to a coal scam in the West Bengal constituency. On April 2, the EC searched the premises of Vijay Nair, AAP’s former communications adviser and one of the accused in the Delhi liquor scam. Sources said that Vijay Nair’s dealings with I-PAC are under investigation and some dealings regarding payments to political consultancy firms in the past are being probed.
