Mother-in-law claims marijuana use during pregnancy, says parents pushed her into glamour world
New Delhi: The mother-in-law of Noida woman Tuisha Sharma, who was found dead at her matrimonial home in Bhopal, on Monday made major allegations against her parents and her mental health.Trisha (33) was found dead at her husband’s house in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12, just five months after she married Samarth Singh, a lawyer, in December 2025. Her family alleged that she was subjected to emotional abuse and dowry harassment by her husband and in-laws and claimed that she was murdered. The case took a dramatic turn on Monday when Tishar’s mother-in-law, retired judge Giribala Singh, painted a sharply different picture of the events that led to the woman’s death. In a press conference, Giribala Singh claimed that Tisha was undergoing psychological counseling and was given medication “given to a schizophrenic patient”. He also alleged that Tuisha showed “withdrawal symptoms” including hand tremors. In a major allegation, he said: “Tuisha has admitted consuming large amounts of cannabis during pregnancy”.“He also went for psychiatric counselling, and was given medicines, which are given to a schizophrenic patient… He would remain stable for a day or so, but then again, his condition would change slightly,” he claimed. The retired judge also rejected allegations of dowry harassment, saying the family tried to save Tisha after she was found hanging. “We gave CPR to Tisha and even the neighbors tried to save her. We tried our best to save Tisha,” he said.He further alleged that Tisha’s parents were neglecting their daughter and exploiting her financially. “Twisha’s parents pushed her into the glamor world at a young age and later rejected her. They were earning because of her looks and now are not allowing her to be cremated. I believe in investigative agencies and the truth,” he said. The same claim was made in the bail application of Swami Samarth Singh. According to the petition, he became agitated when he did not have access to drugs and received psychiatric care. The petition also claimed that she suffered a miscarriage and her behavior towards her in-laws changed after she became pregnant.A local court in Bhopal, which had earlier granted anticipatory bail to Giribala Singh, reserved its order on Samarth Singh’s bail plea on Monday. Samarth is absconding.Police said six teams have been deployed to trace him and a reward of Rs 10,000 has been announced for information leading to his arrest.Speaking to ANI, Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajneesh Kashyap Kaul said the authorities have also approached the passport office to prevent the accused from fleeing the country.“A reward of Rs 10,000 has been announced in this case. Several teams have been deployed to nab accused Samarth Singh,” the officer said.Police have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case. According to ACP Kashyap, the preliminary postmortem report from AIIMS Bhopal indicated death due to “suicide by hanging”.He said, till now, no allegations of drug consumption have been found in the autopsy report. “In the bail application, the allegation of Tisha being a drug addict has been mentioned, but we are strictly investigating the case as per the provisions of the FIR,” he told PTI.Meanwhile, Twisher’s family has refused to accept the body and is demanding a second post-mortem, preferably at AIIMS Delhi, claiming that local investigations have been compromised. His father Navnidhi Sharma questioned why the body should be handed over if the case remains “suspicious”.“The Prime Minister’s report and the evidence do not match. That is why we have applied for a second post-mortem. We want the government to consider. This is a high-profile family. We have lost any hope of justice,” he said.According to her relatives, Tisha wanted to leave Bhopal and return to Noida and kept in touch with them till 10 pm on the day of her death.
