D Bharatiya Janata Party Tamil Nadu on Tuesday unveiled its manifesto for the upcoming assembly elections, promising a monthly assistance of Rs 2,000 and a one-time assistance of Rs 10,000 for female heads of households.Announcing the move, Union Minister JP Nadda outlined key proposals aimed at financial assistance, security and economic empowerment of women. “The key highlights of the manifesto are that when we come to power under the AIADMK leadership we will provide monthly assistance of Rs 2,000 to all women heads of families and one-time assistance of Rs 10,000 to each family,” he said.In addition to the above commitment, the team has also promised assistance of Rs 25,000 to eligible women to purchase free LPG cylinders and e-scooters annually. It has offered interest-free loans of up to Rs 50 lakh to women-led cooperatives, self-help groups and MSMEs, and mandated 20% collection to manufacturing units from such groups.In its manifesto, the party also proposed women’s protection measures like zero FIR reporting, victim-witness protection and special fast-track courts for heinous crimes including sex crimes. The team also promised better utilization of Nirbhaya funds as well as 100% blind spot-free CCTV coverage in buses, schools and universities.For farmers, the BJP said it would increase benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Kishan Samman Nidhi by adding a top-up of Rs 3,000 to the current annual assistance of Rs 6,000.Tamil Nadu will go to polls in a single phase on April 23, with counting on May 4.The main contest is expected between the DMK-led secular progressive alliance, which includes the Indian National Congress, DMDK and VCK, and the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance with the BJP and PMK as allies.
