CBI arrests senior executive of major corporate group in drone import bribery case | India News
The CBI has arrested Bharat Mathur, a senior vice president of a major corporate group and a deputy director general of civil aviation, in connection with a bribe of Rs 2.5 lakh to facilitate the import of drones for another private company, officials said on Sunday.In a raid on Saturday, the CBI arrested Mathur, who is associated with an aerospace company involved in importing drones, and Mudavath Devula, Deputy Director General of Airworthiness Directorate, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Headquarters, New Delhi.The accused DGCA government servant demanded undue favors from private individuals instead of approving and granting permission to applications pending with the DGCA for a private space agency, the CBI spokesperson said in a statement.“The CBI has arrested the Deputy Director General of the Directorate of Airworthiness, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Headquarters, New Delhi, in a case of bribery of Rs 2.5 lakh to a representative of a private company which led to the forfeiture of the entire amount,” it said.The CBI conducted searches at the premises of the accused government employees and other private persons at four locations in Delhi, resulting in the seizure of Rs 37 lakh in cash, including gold and silver coins and multiple digital devices, the statement added.
