2 Congress MLAs to join Vijay govt, no AIADMK rebels for now

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay will on Thursday expand his cabinet to include two Congress MLAs as ministers, reports Julie Mariappan. Members of the AIADMK faction led by former ministers CV Shanmugam and SP Velumani, however, will not be included in this round of cabinet expansion, sources told TOI. Congress floor leaders K Rajesh Kumar and P Viswanathan are expected to take oath at Lok Bhavan at 10 am. RV Arlekar, who is in additional charge of TN Governor, is expected to reach Chennai on Wednesday night. “After six decades we will be part of the Tamil Nadu cabinet. A long dream of our cadres is coming true,” said the Congress leader. Vijay faced criticism for leaving around 20 departments without ministers, including agriculture and higher education.
