चरवाहे जुड़वां भाइयों ने रखी थी रोम की नींव… रोचक है इस प्राचीन शहर के बसने की कहानी – founding of rome romulus remus 753bc day in history 21 april tstsd
On April 21, 753 BC, Romulus and his twin brother Remus founded Rome on the site where the two orphan brothers were nursed by a she-wolf as infants. In fact, this legend of Romulus and Remus dates back to the fourth century BC and the exact date of the founding of Rome was determined by the Roman scholar Marcus Terentius Varro in the first century BC.
According to legend, Romulus and Remus were the sons of Rhea Silvia, daughter of Numitor, king of Alba Longa. Alba Longa was a mythological city located in the Alban hills southeast of Rome. Before the twins were born, Numitor was dethroned by his younger brother Amulius, who forced Rhea to remain a virgin so that she would not give birth to rival claimants to his position.
However, Rhea became pregnant by Mars, the god of war, and gave birth to Romulus and Remus. Amulius ordered the infants drowned in the Tiber River, but they escaped and were washed ashore at the foot of the Palatine Hill, where a she-wolf raised them until the shepherd Faustulus found them.
Both brothers took revenge and established Rome.
The twin brothers, raised by Faustulus and his wife, later became leaders of a group of young shepherd warriors. After learning his true identity, he attacks Alba Longa, kills the evil Amulius, and restores his grandfather to the throne. After this the twin brothers decided to establish a city at the place where they were rescued in childhood.
However, they soon became embroiled in a small feud and Remus was killed by his brother. Then Romulus became the ruler of that settlement, which was named “Rome” after him. Romulus gave shelter to fugitives and exiles to increase the population of his city. There was a shortage of women in Rome, so Romulus invited the neighboring Sabine community to a festival and kidnapped their women.
War then broke out, but the Sabine women intervened to prevent the Sabine men from capturing Rome. A peace treaty was signed and the two communities were united under the joint rule of Romulus and the Sabine king Titus Tatius. Tatius’s untimely death, probably orchestrated by Romulus, left Romulus again as sole king.
The Roman Empire was established 200 years after the city of Rome was established.
After a long and successful reign, Romulus died under mysterious circumstances. Many Romans believed that he had turned into a god and worshiped him as the god Quirinus. After Romulus, Rome had six more kings, the last three of whom are considered to be Etruscans. Around 509 BC, the Roman Republic was established.
