While talking to Aaj Tak on Tuesday, the makers clarified that Dilip Joshi will continue to be a part of the show and the story is still progressing around his character. Actually, for the last few days it was being claimed on social media that Jethalal’s character will be eliminated from the show. After these claims, discussion started among the audience whether Dilip Joshi is going to leave the show. However, the makers of the show denied these claims. According to the makers, the story of the show still focuses on Jethalal’s character and he will not be taken off track. Makers told that on July 28, ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ will complete its 18 years. On this occasion too, Jethalal’s character will remain an important part of the show like before. Dilip Joshi was not the first choice for the role of Jethalal. Initially, Dilip Joshi was offered the role of ‘Champaklal’ (Bapuji). He refused it and chose the character of ‘Jethalal’. Dilip Joshi has been associated with the show for the last 18 years since its inception. The character of Jethalal is counted among the most popular characters among the audience. According to reports, he is among the highest paid artists of the show. He gets a fee of around Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2 lakh for an episode. He also has a good professional and personal understanding with producer Asit Modi. It is noteworthy that many main actors of the show have left the show in the last few years. These include Shailesh Lodha (old Taarak Mehta), Bhavya Gandhi and Raj Anadkat (old Tappu), Neha Mehta (old Anjali Bhabhi) and Gurucharan Singh (old Sodhi). At the same time, the show’s lead actress Disha Vakani (Dayaben) went on maternity leave in the year 2017. Since his departure, till date the makers have not been able to bring his replacement.
