New Delhi: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Tuesday accused the BJP of “crossing all limits” after claiming that one of its party offices in Siliguri was set on fire, with a video of the allegations shared on social media. The group said the law reflected a “thirst for destruction”. The allegation comes in the backdrop of multiple reported attacks on TMC offices across West Bengal as the 2026 assembly election results reshape the state’s political landscape.In Asansol’s Godhuli area, a TMC office was vandalized on Monday, destroying furniture and breaking flags, posters and banners. Earlier in the day, another office in Howrah’s Dumurjala was also targeted, with visuals showing broken windows, scattered furniture and party flags thrown on the road. This marks at least the second and third such incidents reported within hours.Tensions have spilled over into direct conflict. In Cooch Behar, Dinhata town block TMC president Bishu Dhar was allegedly attacked outside a counting station. “We are members of the Trinamool Congress. We are going forward with courage. I knew they would attack me, yet I left. This is the culture of the BJP,” he said.The violence erupted as the BJP won a landslide victory in the state, winning 206 of the 294 seats, according to the Election Commission of India. The TMC won nearly 80 seats, marking a dramatic turnaround in fortunes for the Mamata Banerjee-led party.In a major symbolic blow, Banerjee lost her Bhavanipur seat to BJP leader Subvendu Adhikari by 15,000 votes. Adhikari also retained Nandigram, winning by 9,665 votes. Speaking after his victory, he credited the “Hindu people of Nandigram” and launched a scathing attack on the TMC, claiming that the party “will be finished within 24 hours”.
