New Delhi: The newly elected Subvendu Adhikari government on Monday allotted portfolios to five West Bengal ministers. Dilip Ghosh got the state’s rural development, panchayats and animal resources departments and Agnimitra Paul was made the head of women and child welfare.Moreover, Ashok Kirtanya has been awarded by the State Food Department, Khudiram Tudu by the Backward Classes Welfare Department and Nisith Pramanik by the North Bengal Development, Sports and Youth Welfare Department.

Earlier in the day, the Bengal chief minister unveiled several major policy and administrative decisions, including bringing the state under Ayushman India, handing over land to the BSF for border fencing and implementing the Indian Justice Code (BNS) criminal law framework. The announcements were made after the first cabinet meeting of the BJP government in the state chaired by Adhikari and attended by newly sworn-in ministers and senior officials. Addressing the media, the Chief Minister said that West Bengal will now implement several major central schemes including Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Phal Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Shree and Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma. He announced the rollout of welfare initiatives like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Ujjwala Yojana in the state.
