NEW DELHI: Around seven lakh voters have been added to the electoral rolls in West Bengal ahead of the Assembly polls, officials said, though detailed population data is yet to be released. Of the newly added voters, around 3.22 lakh are scheduled to vote in the first phase, and around 3.88 lakh will cast their votes in the second phase, a senior official was quoted as saying by PTI. However, the commission did not specify how many of these were first-time voters who had recently turned 18, or did not provide a gender-based separation. The data on Form-6 applications used for inclusion in the electoral roll and the number of rejections were also not disclosed. Officials said that while only aggregate figures have been released so far, detailed data is maintained separately and may be shared later if necessary.
