Training plane crashes near Maharashtra's Baramati airport, investigation underway

A training aircraft of Red Bird Aviation crash-landed near Baramati airport in Pune district on Tuesday morning after developing technical problems during a low-altitude flight, police said. Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill said the incident took place at 8.50 am near Gojubavi village adjacent to the airport.“Around 8.50 am today, a training aircraft of Red Bird Aviation crash-landed near Gojubavi village adjacent to Baramati Airport. According to initial information provided by eyewitnesses present at the spot, the aircraft developed technical problems while flying at low altitude. During the crash landing, a part of the aircraft hit a light pole before the aircraft crashed into the ground,” Gill said. The only trainee pilot on board escaped without serious injury.“Only one trainee pilot was in the aircraft. Fortunately, the pilot was not seriously injured. On being informed of the incident, police personnel immediately rushed to the spot, and a necessary investigation and follow-up is underway. More details will be shared as soon as they are available,” added Gill.Police said an investigation into the incident has begun and further details are awaited.
