Today's Chanakya predicts big win for BJP in West Bengal

New Delhi: Today’s Chanakya predicts a big win for the BJP in West Bengal on Thursday, while News 18 predicts a tight contest with an edge to the BJP in its exit poll.In Tamil Nadu, today’s Chanakya has given a majority to the DMK and its allies while the TVK led by actor Vijay has emerged as an X factor that could push the AIADMK-BJP to the third position. While most exit polls have given the BJP an edge in West Bengal, today’s Chanakya predicts a huge lead for the party with 48% polling, with a margin of 3% for both parties, compared to the ruling TMC’s 38%. This would translate to 192 (plus or minus 11) seats for the BJP and 100 (plus or minus 11) for the TMC in the 294-member assembly, it said. News 18 predicts 143 to 163 seats for the BJP and 127 to 147 seats for the TMC, with the two parties likely to get 44% and 43% of the votes respectively. In Tamil Nadu, Today’s Chanakya said, DMK’s alliance could get 125 seats and TVK 63 in the 234-member assembly. This gave the UDF an edge in Kerala and predicted a landslide victory for the BJP in Assam, predictions that were in line with general directions from other polls. Axis My India, another pollster, chose not to release its forecast for West Bengal due to an “extraordinarily high non-response rate”, with nearly 70% of voters refusing to participate in the survey.“A rejection rate of this magnitude materially exceeds historical norms and introduces a high degree of non-response bias,” it said.
