Delhi High Court on Friday issued a notice on the application of actor Salman Khan, in which he sought a ban on the release and promotion of the film Black Deer.

The court directed to issue notice to producer Amit Jani, Jani Firefox Films, director Bharat Srinet, Akshay Pandey and others associated with the project.

Justice Neena Bansal Krishna also considered Salman Khan’s application seeking an interim stay on the release of the film.

The court was told that the trailer of the film was released on Friday, whereas earlier it was indicated that it would be released on June 20. After this, the court fixed the next hearing of the case for June 19.

Blue bracelet said to be a symbol of identity

Salman’s plea states that the film and its related promotional material appear to be inspired by or based on the 1998 blackbuck poaching case.

According to the petition, even if the actor’s name is not used directly, audiences can easily identify him from posters, promotional materials and public statements from people associated with the project.

The petition also mentioned a poster released on May 29, 2026. It was claimed that the character shown in it resembles Salman and is wearing a bracelet similar to the blue colored bracelet considered to be the actor’s identity symbol.

In the video, the main character Ayaan was seen wearing the same type of bracelet, which is often seen in the hands of Salman Khan.

Amit Jani’s statements were also cited

It has also been said in the application that the character has been shown in the poster with a weapon, while Salman has been acquitted in the case related to the Arms Act. The actor says that this can send a wrong message.

Salman’s lawyer also argued that the story of the film seems to be related to the cases which are currently pending in higher courts. According to the petition, promotion of content based on such topics can influence pending judicial proceedings and impact the right to a fair trial.

The application also cited alleged media interviews, social media posts and public statements of the film’s producer Amit Jani. It was said that the film was linked to the black buck case and gangster Lawrence, in an attempt to gain promotion.

According to the petition, on April 24, 2026, a legal notice was sent to the people associated with the project, in which a demand was made to stop the development and promotion of the film. However, the actor alleges that despite the notice, promotional activities continued, due to which he had to come to court.

The appearance and walking style of the main character of the film matches that of Salman Khan.
