New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday urged people to use petrol, diesel and gas “with great moderation”, saying that reducing dependence on imported fuels would help India limit the impact of the ongoing war.Addressing a rally in Hyderabad after virtually inaugurating and laying foundation stones of projects worth around Rs 9,400 crore in Telangana, Prime Minister Modi He said judicious use of petro products is now a national need. He said, “But, the need of the hour today is to use petrol, gas, diesel and the like very sparingly. We have to use imported petro products only as needed. This will not only save foreign exchange, but also reduce the adverse effects of war.”
Referring to the importance of energy security, he said, “What is the importance of energy security… everyone in the world is feeling it today. That is why our central government is investing unprecedentedly in India’s energy security. In recent years, India has reached the top position among countries in the world in terms of solar energy.”The Prime Minister also highlighted India’s push towards alternative and clean energy over the past few years, pointing to rapid growth in solar power capacity, ethanol blending in petrol and expansion of gas-based infrastructure.He said the Center had first focused on achieving universal LPG coverage and was now working towards expanding affordable piped gas supply and promoting CNG-based transport systems. According to him, these efforts have helped India navigate the ongoing global energy crisis more effectively.He also said that the country is moving fast in reforms and infrastructural development, assuring continued support for the growth of Telangana.Projects unveiled on Sunday cover road, railway, petroleum and textile infrastructure. Major initiatives included four-laning of National Highway-167 between Gudebelur and Mahabubnagar on the Hyderabad-Panaji Economic Corridor and infrastructure development in Zahirabad Industrial Area in Sangareddy district.PM Modi inaugurated the Kazipet-Vijayawada Railway Multi-Tracking Project, a greenfield petroleum, oil and lubricant terminal in Hyderabad, Kazipet Rail Under Rail Bypass and PM Mitra Park in Warangal, also known as Kakatiya Mega Textile Park.Built at an estimated cost of around Rs 1,700 crore, the textile park is the country’s first fully operational PM Mitra Park and aims to integrate the textile value chain under the Centre’s “5F” vision – from farm to fiber to factory to fashion to foreign.Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Verma, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar were present at the function held at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre.
