Famous playback singer S. Janaki died on Saturday at a private hospital in Mysore. She was 88 years old.

He had trouble breathing on Friday night. After this he was admitted to the hospital, where he breathed his last.

S. Janaki recorded more than 48 thousand songs in her career. Most of these are in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam languages.

S. Janaki is known for Hindi songs like ‘Bol Baby Bol (Meri Jung), Prabhu More Avgun (Sur Sangam), O Maria (Sagar), Gopala-Gopala (Humse Hai Muqabla). S. Janaki has been awarded four National Film Awards and several state-level honours.

Janaki started her singing career in 1957. His first Hindi song was in the 1958 film ‘Miss 58’, whose music was composed by G. Ramanathan had prepared it.
