Across Kerala, early trends for the 2026 assembly elections point to a decisive shift in power, with the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) on the move and poised for a commanding return to government. The alliance is leading in more than 100 of the 140 assembly seats, comfortably crossing the majority mark, while the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) is far behind, struggling to hold even 40 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) remains a marginal player, leading in just a few seats.The trends point to strong anti-incumbency against the LDF government led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who initially retreated to his Dharmadam stronghold before regaining leadership in the next round.
