Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Chirag Paswan failed to meet Pashupati Kumar Paras at his residence in New Delhi.

New Delhi: In a surprising turn of events, Chirag PaswanPresident of Lok Jan Shakti Party (LJP) founded by late father Ram Vilas PaswanHe was disqualified from the post of party leader in the Lok Sabha on Monday.
Chirag, who took charge of the party in 2020 after Rambilas Paswan’s death, stood completely isolated at the top of his party.
Five of the LJP’s six MPs revolted against Chirag in an overnight coup and elected his uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras as the party’s new leader in the Lok Sabha.
Apart from Pashupati Paras, the rebel group includes Chirag’s cousin Prince Raj, Chandan Singh, Veena Devi and Mehbub Ali Kaiser.
The party has already met the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla To inform him about the change in the party. In the coming days, the rebels may demand the Election Commission to represent the real LJP and move to remove Chirag from the party’s top post.

‘You shall reap what you sow’

Chirag led an aggressive campaign against Nitish Kumar in the 2020 assembly elections and in the process dealt a heavy political blow to the ruling Janata Dal (United).

Chirag emerged from the NDA in the state and contested the assembly elections against Nitish Kumar’s party. He nominated all JD(U) candidates, some of whom were BJP defectors.
As a result, the JD(U) lost a number of seats due to the trilateral rivalry and became the BJP’s junior partner in the Bihar NDA for the first time.
Not surprisingly, Nitish Kumar’s party reacted with a jab at the developments within the LJP.
“You reap what you sow,” JD(U) national president RCP Singh said as he accused Chirag of playing negative politics.
“Chirag Paswan has done many mistakes in the recent past. The people of Bihar and his own party workers and leaders were not happy with what he did during the Bihar assembly elections. Now, the result is coming in the form of a split in the party,” Singh said.
Given the bitter political rivalry between the two parties since the 2020 assembly elections, sources close to Chirag Paswan have accused the JD(U) of splitting into the LJP.
The JD(U), on the other hand, blamed Chirag Paswan’s negative politics for the rift within his party.
The lone LJP MLA in the Bihar Assembly has already left the party to join the JD(U).
Cherag tries to meet Paras, but fails
As the incident unfolded on Monday, Chirag Paswan went to his uncle’s residence in the national capital to meet him and Prince Raj.
Paswan, who has not been well for quite some time, waited in his car for over 20 minutes before letting him into the house and then left after spending over an hour inside.
He left without speaking to the waiting media.
Neither of the two rebel MPs is believed to have met him. A family aide said the two were not at home when the LJP chief arrived.
How will the BJP react?
It will be interesting to see how the BJP reacts to recent developments in this one-up game between the JD(U) and the LJP in Bihar.
Chirag Paswan has always maintained a very strong pro-BJP and pro-PM Modi stance and announced before the assembly elections that he was working for the BJP government in Bihar.
On the other hand, Pashupati Paras is considered pro-Nitish Kumar.
Paras today hailed Nitish Kumar as a good leader and a “vikash purusha” (development-oriented man).
With talks of a Union Cabinet reshuffle, it will be interesting to see if the BJP decides to include Chirag Paswan to ensure he is not completely marginalized within his own party.
The JD(U) declined to comment on speculation about one or more rebel LJP MPs being inducted into the Union Cabinet from the party quota or into state ministries.
However, it reiterated the party’s stand that all NDA allies should get a “respectable” share at the Centre.
‘I saved the party’
Pashupati Paras, who is the MP from Hajipur, a seat represented by Ram Vilas Paswan for several years, claimed that 99 per cent LJP workers are unhappy with Chirag Paswan’s leadership in Bihar.
“We have six MPs in the party. Five MPs wanted to save our party. So, I didn’t break the party. I saved it. Cherag Paswan is my nephew as well as the party’s national president. I have no objection against him,” Paras said when asked about the development.
Paras said his party would continue to be part of the BJP-led NDA and added that Paswan could remain in the outfit.
“The LJP will continue to exist, we are not joining the JDU. We will fulfill the ambition of late Rambilas Paswan,” the Hajipur MP said about rumors that the LJP would join the Janata Dal (United) in Bihar.
