New Delhi: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took aim at the Center in the Lok Sabha on Thursday while speaking on the proposed Women’s Reservation Bill, using a pointed Chanakya reference that drew laughter from the Union Home Minister. In her remarks, she also referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s earlier speech praising the BJP’s record on women empowerment, alleging that the government was undermining constitutional principles while presenting itself as a champion of women’s rights.As laughter erupted from the BJP bench, Priyanka responded with a sharp quip, saying the ruling party was fully prepared and remarked that Chanakya would be amazed at their political acumen if he were alive today.Priyanka said, “If Chanakya were alive today, he would have been surprised to see the conspiracy of the BJP to win the elections.”Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had “guaranteed” that no injustice would be done to any state while demarcating, fearing that northern states might gain at the expense of southern Indian states.Addressing the Lok Sabha during the Boundary Bill, 2026 along with the Women’s Quota Bill, the Prime Minister said: “I guarantee that no injustice will be done to any state—east to west, north to south.”
