Jammu: In a quick, humanitarian response, the Army successfully evacuated a critically ill woman from Chil, a remote village at an altitude of 7,500 feet in Dudu-Basantgarh. Udhampur District Monday in Jammu division.Jammu PRO (Defence) Lt Col Sunil Bartwal said, “Around 8 pm on April 18, a villager came to the military operating base seeking emergency medical assistance for his wife Sheetala Devi, who was suffering from seizures. Responding immediately, our troops first contacted the media, where they reached. The patient is stable under controlled, strict field conditions.“At first light on 19 April, a carefully planned evacuation was carried out to shift the patient to the nearest road head at Ghar Katiyas. The evacuation involved about 3 km of rugged forest terrain characterized by steep gradients and the absence of any motorable tracks. An Army personnel took three hours to safely carry the patient to his stretcher. The patient was later taken by road to Dudu PHC, where he is currently stable and receiving medical care.Earlier this year, on January 29, Army soldiers successfully provided emergency medical aid to 24-year-old woman Ashu suffering from post-labour complications in a remote, snow-bound village of Udhampur district, as all roads leading to Ayushman Arogya Mandir Primary Health Centre, a nearby hospital in Latti, were heavily blocked.
