Anti-terror search operation launched across J&K’s Poonch district
Jammu and KashmirOfficials said operations were underway in the area to track down suspected terrorists in Poonch district. The operation comes days after an infiltration bid was foiled in Mankot area of Mendhar tehsil on May 12, in which an infiltrator was killed. Army and police teams have carried out massive combing operations at more than five locations across the district as part of a tough anti-terror drive, the officials added. Security has been beefed up across Poonch following the killing of an infiltrator in the Krishnaghati sector along the Line of Control (LoC). Additional checkpoints have been set up, while vehicles are being strictly inspected. Officials also said there are unconfirmed reports indicating the possible presence of a high-profile foreign terrorist in the Valley, though no official confirmation has been issued so far, PTI reported.
