Fadnavis writes to Shah, seeks probe into Ajit Pawar’s plane crash | India News
MUMBAI: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has sought a “comprehensive, transparent and time-bound” probe into the January 28 Baramati accident that killed former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar and four others. In a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on March 6, Fadnavis raised concerns about discrepancies in security oversight, crew deployment and flight data. He wrote that a representation by NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar had highlighted several issues that required detailed examination during the ongoing investigation by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB).
These include the operator’s safety record, including a 2023 accident at Mumbai airport and regulatory monitoring by foreign countries; including flight crew deployment, last-minute pilot changes and compliance with crew work and rest rules; aircraft maintenance, technical log and airworthiness oversight; discrepancies in flight data, including air traffic control records, radar inputs, transponder losses and cockpit recordings; Operational decisions during landing, including low visibility, runway choice, maneuvering and no diversion, and finally the adequacy of regulatory oversight and compliance with aviation safety rules.
