5 Indians killed in drone attack in Oman

New Delhi: Two Indian nationals were killed and 10 injured in a drone attack on an industrial area in Oman’s Sohar province on Friday, taking the total Indian death toll in the ongoing war in West Asia to five. Oman News Agency reported that two drones crashed in Sohar, one hitting the Al-Awahi industrial area, killing two expatriates and injuring several others, while the other crashed in an open area, causing no damage. External Affairs Ministry’s Joint Secretary (Gulf) Asim Mahajan confirmed the murder. “We offer our deepest condolences… 10 of the 11 injured are Indians. Five have been discharged and others are undergoing treatment at local hospitals,” he said.‘1.5 lakh Indians returned from West Asia’Asim Mahajan, Joint Secretary (Gulf) in the Ministry of External Affairs said that 150,000 Indian nationals have returned from West Asia since the conflict started. “There are no reports of serious injuries to any of them. Our mission is in close contact with the concerned companies and local authorities and is providing all assistance,” he said. External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said 117 Indian nationals crossed from Iran to Armenia through land border crossing and several of them have already returned to India. He said, we have asked all parties to adopt diplomacy and dialogue to resolve the conflict as soon as possible.
