Srinagar: A Kashmir court has dismissed a plea by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to add charges against National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah and others in the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) scam case. The court said that a case which the ED has already investigated, filed and tried cannot be made a party. Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).However, the court said there was prima facie evidence against the accused, including Abdullah, and observed that “essential elements of the offense under Sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 409 of the Ranbir Penal Code are made out” and the accused will be charged accordingly. The court has listed the case for March 12, 2026 for framing of charges.In 2018, the CBI had chargesheeted Abdullah and others for embezzling Rs 43 crore from the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s grant to the JKCA. The CBI alleged that the funds were misappropriated between 2002 and 2011 when Abdullah was president of the JKCA.The CBI has named Abdullah, then JKCA general secretary Mohammad Salim Khan, former treasurer Ahsan Ahmed Mirza and J&K Bank executive Bashir Ahmed Misgar in its chargesheet.
