New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government on Tuesday urged the Narendra Modi-led government to take a clear and moral stand amid growing hostilities between the US, Israel and Iran.In a post on X, Rahul said the region was being pushed “toward greater conflict” and warned that millions, including around one crore Indians, faced uncertainty due to the deteriorating security situation.
“The growing hostility between the US, Israel and Iran is pushing a fragile region into greater conflict. Billions of people, including nearly one crore Indians, face uncertainty,” Rahul said. “While security concerns are real, attacks that violate sovereignty will only worsen the crisis. Unilateral attacks on Iran as well as Iranian attacks on other countries in the Middle East should be condemned. Violence begets violence – dialogue and moderation remain the only path to peace,” he added.Rahul said India’s foreign policy tradition demands clarity at a time of global turmoil.“India must be morally clean. We must have the courage to speak out in defense of international law and human life. Our foreign policy is rooted in sovereignty and peaceful resolution of disputes – and this must be consistent,” he said.In a subtle comment aimed at the Prime Minister Narendra ModiRahul Gandhi questioned the government’s stance on recent developments.“Prime Minister Modi must speak. Does he support the assassination of a head of state as a way to define the world order? Silence is now diminishing India’s standing in the world,” he added.Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Tuesday that limited flight operations from Dubai have resumed amid continued airspace restrictions in the region.The United States and Israel launched airstrikes on several Iranian cities on February 28, targeting military command centers, air defense systems, missile sites and key regime infrastructure.The attack killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and four senior military and security officials, and large explosions were reported in Tehran and other major cities.
