‘Matter of grave concern’: PM Modi calls for dialogue and diplomacy as Middle East tensions soar | India News
Prime Minister Narendra Modi On Monday, in a joint statement with his Canadian counterpart, Mark Carney, reflected on ongoing tensions in the Middle East, also referred to as West Asia. He expressed concern over the ever-escalating situation in the region following massive US and Israeli military action against Iran, which led to the assassination of its Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.“The situation in West Asia is of great concern to us,” PM Modi said after his talks with Karney. He also said that India will continue to work with countries in the region to ensure the safety of its citizens. “We will continue to work with West Asian countries to ensure the safety of Indians there,” he said.Prime Minister Modi and the Canadian leadership also highlighted that terrorism and radicalization remain a “shared and serious challenge” not only for India and Canada, but for all of humanity.“India supports the resolution of all conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy,” PM Modi said, referring to the situation in West Asia. The joint comments by the leaders of the two major democracies came after Canada’s neighbor, the United States, launched a joint military operation with Israel against Iran, hitting multiple locations, including the “heart of Tehran.” The attack killed several top leaders of the Tehran regime and ended decades of rule by Ali Khamenei in Iran.
