LoC drone intrusions force closure of Kashmir schools till March 3 | India News
New Delhi: Schools across Jammu and Kashmir will remain closed on March 2 and 3 due to multiple Pakistani drone infiltration attempts along the Line of Control (LoC) and rising tensions in West Asia, the Department of School Education in Kashmir announced today.Authorities have postponed the scheduled reopening of schools up to the 8th grade—originally scheduled for tomorrow after the winter break—to prioritize student safety amid the rapidly escalating security situation. This order covers all government and private recognized schools in the region
In the latest incident, Indian Army troops foiled 2-3 small quadcopters attempting to violate Indian airspace in Poonch sector along the LOC between 5:45 AM and 6:00 AM today. Alert personnel quickly deployed counter-drone systems, forcing the drones to retreat without harm. This marks the latest in a series of drone sightings along the LoC and international border in recent days, prompting the army to step up vigilance and preparedness against further violations. The closures coincided with heightened regional instability caused by joint Israeli-US missile strikes on Iran – codenamed Operation Roaring Lion and Operation Epic Fury – which reportedly killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, his daughter, grandson, daughter-in-law and others in explosions in Tehran and other cities. US President Donald Trump confirmed the attack, while Iranian state media echoed the leadership’s casualties.Iran retaliated by targeting US bases in Dubai, Doha Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait, raising fears of a wider conflict in South Asia. Officials in Jammu and Kashmir cited these combined threats as the reason for the two-day shutdown to protect children.
