HM Shah reviews border security in Seemanchal; all post-SIR deaths to be verified | India News
New Delhi: A high-level meeting chaired by the Home Minister Amit Shah Purnia, Bihar To check security-related concerns in the border districts of the state on Friday, it was decided that all deaths reported after special intensive review (SIR) will be thoroughly verified and deleted and updated in all government records including Aadhaar, driving license and so on. Pan database etc., to ensure accuracy and prevent any misuse.Central government sources told TOI that a door-to-door survey would be carried out to verify those reported as transferred but absent during verification, while ensuring that no genuine voters were wrongly deleted.The review meeting examined — attended by district magistrates and superintendents of police of seven border districts — called for stricter border management, increased vigilance against illegal activities and coordinated inter-agency action to address concerns such as illegal construction near border areas, illegal immigration, circulation of fake Indian currency, financial flows (FICs) and financial flows.
During the meeting, Shah called for strict enforcement of zero-tolerance policy against illegal construction, especially in forests and uninhabited areas, and ordered immediate removal of encroachments on ‘no man’s land’ along the international border. District Magistrates of bordering districts are entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring legal and financial compliance of all banks, including co-operative banks, within their jurisdiction. All banks are directed to follow the issued compliances RBIIncluding reporting of high value cash transactions and PAN linkage with bank accounts. The Chief Secretary of Bihar will review the compliance, particularly in respect of co-operative banks. Strict action will be taken against Sub-Registrar Offices (SROs) who fail or resort to faulty reporting of violations involving high-value property transactions or cash transactions outside prescribed norms. The Bihar government will raise the issue with the State-Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) and talk to the RBI, install note-sorting machines in all bank branches at the border, while also ensuring adequate banking penetration in border areas.District magistrates have been asked to verify big business houses to ensure that their sources of funding are legitimate and not linked to illegal activities. In case of property purchase by suspicious elements, their source of funds, purchasing power and PAN details will be thoroughly checked.
