Srinagar: PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Israel, saying it was against India’s long-standing policy of maintaining a moral and balanced stance in global affairs.Mehbooba told reporters that most of the international community had distanced itself from the Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu After the International Criminal Court charges against him. “The Prime Minister should not be seen embracing such leaders.”CPM MLA M Y Tarigami posted a party statement on X, saying the visit comes at a time when Israel is “killing so many innocent people”.Srinagar MP Agha Syed Ruhullah Mehdi was the sole functionary of ruling NC to oppose the visit. Responding to Modi’s statement that he carried “the best wishes of 1.4 billion Indians”, Mehdi said on social media, “No, not my best wishes. Give them my curse for their illegal occupation in Palestine and genocide in Gaza.”
