New Delhi: The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) has submitted a memorandum to the central government, outlining several demands related to labor laws, social security and worker welfare. In the letter addressed to Dr Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Labor and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, the trade union said the memorandum was based on proposals adopted at the 21st All India Triennial Conference held in Puri earlier this month.“During the three-day conference, various pressing issues concerning workers across the country were discussed in detail and all resolutions were unanimously adopted,” the organization said.Among its key demands, the BMS called for universal implementation of labor laws “for all sectors and all classes of workers without any exemption” in the true spirit of Antyodaya. The union also urged the government to address concerns arising from the Industrial Relations Code, 2020 and the Occupational Safety, Health and Conditions of Work Code, 2020.On social security, the BMS has sought a drastic increase in pension benefits, demanding that the minimum pension under EPS-95 “be raised from Rs 1,000 to Rs 7,500 per month with substantial relief.”It also pushed for revisions in the wage ceiling, calling for the EPF coverage limit to be raised from Rs 30,000 per month and the ESIC ceiling to Rs 42,000 per month from Rs 21,000.The memorandum also flagged issues like regularization of scheme and contract employees, lifting of ban on general recruitment and implementation of 3rd Pay Revision Committee recommendations for BSNL and MTNL employees.Talking about its protest plan, the BMS said a countrywide dharna and protest program was organized on February 25 to draw the government’s attention to the demands. “We request your immediate intervention and swift action in the interest of the working community,” the agency said
