New Delhi: Telapoka Janata Party founder Abhijit Deepke on Saturday dismissed claims by BJP leaders that the party had almost half of its social media followers. Pakistan. The internet-based movement, which has recently gone viral and gained traction among young users, has now become the focus of a political debate.The Telapoka Janata Party quickly emerged as one of the country’s newest online sensations, garnering attention with memes and comments on unemployment, education policies and alleged exam paper leaks.Denying the BJP’s allegations, Deepak shared a screenshot of audience analytics on X and wrote, “This is the screen recording of our audience demographics that we shared with the media before our account was hacked.”Claiming that the majority of the audience is Indian, he added, “More than 94% of the audience is from India.” Then he raised the question, “Why the Union Minister?” Kiren Rijiju Identifying Indian youth as Pakistani?Earlier, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju in a scathing post targeting the Telapoka Janata Party wrote, “I pity those who seek their followers on social media from Pakistan and the George Soros gang.”BJP leader and Union Minister Sukant Majumder also alleged that the platform had significant Pakistani engagement. Speaking to reporters, he claimed, “49 percent of ‘Telapoka Janata Party’ followers on social media are from Pakistan, while only 9 percent are Indian.”The BJP’s comments come amid growing controversy surrounding the digital campaign that went viral last week. Kerala BJP president Rajeev Chandrasekhar alleged that the CJP was part of a “classic cross-border influence operation” aimed at destabilizing India and targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government.“In the age of social media, bots, AI and its weaponization, influence activities are effective means of destabilizing by creating dangerous, fake, seemingly organic narratives,” said Chandrasekhar in a post on X.He also alleged that sections of the opposition were spreading propaganda and claimed that India’s rise under Prime Minister Modi had led to discontent among “foreign interests”.“I have always maintained the rise of India and its modernization under Prime Minister Narendra Modi will upset many countries and create many hurdles for our continued rise,” he said.Chandrasekhar also defended the Modi government’s record during the global crisis. “No cockroaches, no petty anti-Indian politicians, no anti-Modi jokers, no foreign interests can stop India’s determination to build a Vixit India,” he added.The ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ trend emerged after the controversy over alleged remarks by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant during the hearing of an application seeking seniority for a lawyer. Abhijit Deepke alleged that the movement faced concerted action across multiple social media platforms.
