5-nation tour pacts to boost employment: PM Modi

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the agreements reached during his recent five-nation tour will open “new doors to the new economy” for the youth, stressing that India’s presence in clean energy, critical minerals and sustainable development will be boosted by forging ties with these countries.After distributing over 51,000 recruitment letters for government jobs through video conferencing at the Rozgar Mela, Modi said the agreements signed with the UAE and Norway will also strengthen the shipbuilding ecosystem.“The demand for engineers, technicians and skilled workers is going to grow beyond your imagination,” he told the young audience, a comment aimed at countering Gen Z’s detractors’ narrative of unemployment and restlessness amid curiosity about the creation of a “cockroach crowd party.”Modi said the opportunities for today’s youth across manufacturing, technology, startups, digital services, railways, defense and aerospace are unprecedented in the country’s history.“India’s youth have never before had the opportunity to fulfill their dreams,” he said.“There is a palpable excitement among global corporate leaders about India’s youth and its technological advancements,” Modi said of his visit, adding that the world is eager to be a part of India’s development journey. “India’s international partnerships are purposefully formed to serve its youth. The objective is for India’s youth to gain employment and global exposure,” he added.Underlining his focus on advancing India’s interests in emerging sectors and helping its young population, he said that every new investment, every technology partnership and every industry collaboration ultimately creates new opportunities for them. These sectors will shape the industry and define global growth for decades, Modi added.Citing the ASM-Tata Electronics deal as a strong example of India’s growing status as a trusted global supply chain partner, he said it is among a handful of countries with which the Dutch semiconductor giant has signed an agreement.Partnership with Sweden on AI and collaboration with UAE on supercomputing will likewise strengthen India’s technological capabilities, Modi said. He asserted that India is advancing in innovation, building and delivery scale, earning global respect.
