The dispute turned into a bloody fight during a liquor party of miscreants at a tube well in Harsoli village of Shahpur police station area of Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. It is alleged that under the influence of alcohol, three miscreants together killed their own friend by beating him with a brick. After the murder, the accused also tried to burn and bury the body, but when they failed, they left the body at the tube well and hid in a nearby mango orchard.
According to the police, some miscreants were drinking alcohol at a tube well in Harsoli village late on Friday night. Meanwhile, there was a dispute over some issue and Rajiv alias Raju, Sohanveer alias Pintu and Vikas together killed Raja alias Arun, a resident of Jhinjhana in Shamli district, by beating him with a brick. After this, the accused tried to burn and bury the body, but when they did not succeed, they went and hid in the mango orchard of nearby Sanjhak village.
As soon as the morning came, the police was informed about the body being found in the tube well. Police reached the spot, investigated and sent the body for post-mortem.
Police action and encounter in 5 hours
A few hours after the body was found, the police received information from the informer that the accused were hiding in the mango orchard. As soon as the information was received, the police surrounded the area and asked the accused to surrender.
According to the police, instead of surrendering, the accused started firing at the police team and tried to escape. In retaliation, the police opened fire in self-defense, in which Sohanveer alias Pintu and Vikas were injured by bullets, while the third accused Rajiv alias Raju was arrested from the spot.
Police have recovered three illegal pistols and cartridges from the possession of the accused. Action is being taken to send the arrested accused to jail after treatment.
All the accused are friends among themselves, all have criminal history.
According to police officials, the deceased and the accused were friends and all had criminal history. They had met together due to friendship and while drinking alcohol, a dispute escalated, which took the form of murder.
SSP Muzaffarnagar Sanjay Kumar Verma said that the police solved the case within 4 to 5 hours and arrested the three accused. During interrogation, the accused confessed to the murder.
Police said that a case has been registered against the accused under other sections including murder and encounter. Five cases including attempt to murder, robbery and Gangster Act were registered against the deceased in Jhinjhana police station of Shamli district. Further legal action is underway in the matter.
