In fact, the London Stock Exchange (LSE) has announced the launch of ‘London Stock Exchange 24’ to give a new dimension to trading in this era of digital and AI in the global finance markets. This new trading platform will provide the facility of continuous trading 24 hours a day, 5 days a week.

The main objective of ‘LSE 24’ is to enable global investors to respond quickly to key market events, access liquidity across different time zones and make risk management more effective.

Timing for LSE 24

If we talk about trading timings, LSE 24 will operate from 17:00 pm to 7:50 am from Monday to Friday, with a break of 30 minutes between 18:30 pm to 19:00 pm for the daily closing process.

Let us tell you, the main market of the London Stock Exchange will continue to function normally at its traditional time (08:00 am to 16:30 pm). LSE 24 will operate separately and independently.

According to the information received, testing for customers will be started by the end of 2026. LSE 24 will officially launch with ‘Exchange Traded Products’ (ETPs) in the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approval. London is already a major global hub for ETP.

Focus on AI best trading

After ETPs, equity trading will also be started on this platform in the next phase. LSE will provide secure connectivity to 24 next generation agent-based and automated trading systems. This platform will make order management, market data and execution processes more seamless and automated. Additionally, it will integrate with LSEG’s ‘Digital Securities Depository’ to simplify settlement and management of digital securities.

According to Julia Hoggett, Chief Executive Officer of the LSE, the LSE will provide investors with greater flexibility and liquidity by moving beyond traditional 24 trading hours. This move will further strengthen London as a leading center for digital and global financial markets.
