Information about the incident reached the police through a secret information. Sub-Inspector Balkar Singh of Jodhewal Police was patrolling the area with his team on June 10. Meanwhile, an informer told him that a video from Kailash Nagar Road area is going viral on social media, in which some youth are holding a person hostage and torturing him.

After receiving the information, the police started investigating the video. Initial investigation found the video serious, after which the police started legal action without any delay. Officials say that no person can be allowed to take the law into their own hands and strict action will be taken against the culprits.

The police have registered a case against unknown accused under several sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS). The sections recorded include 115(2), 127(2), 127(8), 352, 351(2) and 190. These sections mainly relate to crimes like assault, hostage-taking, threatening, insulting and taking law into one’s own hands.

At present, the police is busy identifying the accused on the basis of the viral video. CCTV cameras installed nearby and other technical evidence are also being investigated. Police say that all the people seen in the video will be identified and action will be taken against them as per rules. At the same time, this incident has once again raised serious questions on the tendency of the mob to take law into its own hands.
