Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared the results of Civil Services Preliminary Examination (Prelims) on Monday. A total of 13,343 candidates have achieved success in this examination. Let us tell you that this preliminary examination was held on 24 May.
UPSC As against 1,016 vacancies notified for Civil Services Examination 2026 this year, a total of 13,343 candidates have been shortlisted for Civil Services (Main) Examination 2026, it said in a statement.
At the same time, a total of 14,161 candidates were shortlisted for the Civil Services (Main) Examination 2025 against 1,087 notified vacancies last year.
Every year, the Civil Services Examination is conducted by the Commission in three stages: Preliminary, Main and Interview/Personality Test, to select officers for Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) etc.
The statement said that as per the rules of the examination, all successful candidates will be given a window to submit or update the details. This includes depositing a fee of Rs 200 for admission to the Civil Services (Main) Examination 2026. However, this will not be applicable for fee-free category candidates like Women, PwBD, SC, ST.
The window to fill and submit these details will be available on the UPSC website from June 19 to 28.
The Civil Services Examination Rules 2026 dated February 4, 2026 clearly state that all candidates successful for the Civil Services (Main) Examination must mandatorily log in to the portal (https://upsconline.nic.in) during this window. They have to update their details etc. and submit the application form so that the Commission can issue the e-admit card. Failing to do so, such candidates will not be allowed to participate in the further stages of the examination.
