A thief entered the house through the bathroom window. We were sleeping when the nanny came and said, “There is a man in Jeh Baba’s room who has a knife in his hand and is asking for money.” ‘I immediately went to the children’s room. The man was holding the child (Jeh). He had slightly injured the child and also injured our maid. Maybe if I had switched on the lights earlier and tried to talk to him, the situation might have been different. But at that time I attacked him without thinking and our scuffle started. ‘After this he became uncontrollable with a knife. There was blood and chaos all around. Then my Nepali maid Geeta came there, she pushed her hard and threw her on the other side of the room. Saif further said, ‘After some time I noticed that I was wearing a white kurta-pajama, which was completely drenched with blood. There came a time when I was lying on the floor and I thought I might die. I was thinking that I had lived my life well. I just wanted to say goodbye to the world by holding my child’s hand. Then my eyes opened and I thought this would not happen. Then I went to the hospital. I really wanted to be with Taimur. I asked him if he would come with me to the hospital. He looked at me and asked, ‘Are you going to die?’ I said, ‘No, my back hurts a lot, but I’ll be fine’, he said, ‘Yes I will.’ Saif also said that the person had stabbed him with full force. A 6-inch piece of the knife was left in his back. That piece was near the spinal cord.
