International rapper Kanye West’s concert in India has been cancelled. The rapper’s first concert in India was to be held on May 23 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. Earlier the show was scheduled for March 29, which was later rescheduled. The event organizer announced the concert’s cancellation in a statement on Instagram on Friday. The statement said that due to instructions from the authorities, this Live in India event will not be possible. The organizer said that after months of preparation, it was going to be one of the biggest live concerts ever in India, but considering the current sensitive situation, public safety has been given priority. Information was also given in the post that people who bought tickets will be given full refund. At the same time, talks are going on with Kanye West’s team regarding the new date and venue. Kanye West gained recognition in 2003 with his song ‘Through the Wire’. His first album was released in 2004. His famous songs are ‘Night in Paris’, ‘Bound 2’ and ‘Hurricane’. Earlier, global singer Shakira’s ‘Feeding India Concert’ to be held in April was postponed. This decision was taken in view of the increasing tension in the Middle East and the situation of Iran-Israel war. Shakira was scheduled to perform in Mumbai on 10-11 April and in Delhi on 15 April. New dates for the concert have not been announced yet. The decision was taken due to security reasons. The concert organizer shared a post on Instagram and wrote, ‘Due to the current geo-political situation and regional tension, Shakira’s concert is being postponed till further notice. For us, the safety of fans, artists and production team is paramount. Organizers had said that they are working with Shakira’s team on new dates and will be informed as soon as something is finalized. The ticket price was up to Rs 32 thousand. There was a huge craze among the fans for this concert of Shakira, because she was coming to India for the first time since 2007. Its tickets were sold very expensive. The most expensive ‘HSBC Starstruck Lounge Pass’ in Mumbai was priced at Rs 32,000. This included a ticket of Rs 28,500 plus GST and booking fees. At the same time, the platinum lounge ticket was priced at Rs 24,500 and the VIP section ticket was priced at Rs 14,500. Even in Delhi, the price of Starstruck Lounge was kept at around Rs 30,500. Organizers had assured refund to those who had booked tickets. The district had said that those who had purchased tickets would get their full money back. This refund will be credited in the same ‘original payment mode’. The organizers have also released an official email ID for any questions or problems.
