Filmmaker K. Bhagyaraj’s demise: CM Vijay took care of his emotional wife and son, Trisha said – can’t believe that we were together only yesterday.
Tamil actor, director and screenwriter K. Bhagyaraj died of cardiac arrest in Chennai on Saturday. He was 73 years old. He was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Greenways area of Chennai after suffering cardiopulmonary cardiac arrest. Krishnaswamy Bhagyaraj, born on January 7, 1953, was considered one of the most influential filmmakers of Tamil cinema. He was called the “King of Screenplays” for his distinctive screenwriting style. Bhagyaraj started his film career as an assistant director to director Bharathiraja. He later became one of the well-known writers and directors of Tamil cinema. He acted in more than 75 films and directed more than 25. He was also a producer, novelist and magazine editor. He received the Filmfare Best Actor Award for his role in Mundanai Mudichu. CM Vijay reached Bhagyaraj’s house and paid tribute. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay paid tribute to the deceased in Chennai on Saturday. Reached Bhagyaraj’s residence and paid tribute to him. Vijay offered floral tributes on the mortal remains of Bhagyaraj and during this he met Bhagyaraj’s wife Purnima Bhagyaraj and his son Shantanu Bhagyaraj and consoled them. Of. Trisha and Chiranjeevi expressed grief over the demise of Bhagyaraj. On the demise of Bhagyaraj, actress Trisha Krishnan paid tribute to him through Instagram story. He wrote, “Dear Bhagyaraj Sir, a heartfelt tribute to you. I can’t believe that just yesterday we were sitting together having dinner and today I heard the news of your demise. My deepest condolences to Purnima Ma’am, Shantanu, Amlu and Kiki in this difficult time. May God give them the strength to bear this loss.” Meanwhile, actor Chiranjeevi expressed his condolences on social media and said that he had met Bhagyaraj in Goa only two days ago. He wrote, “I am extremely shocked and saddened. Just the day before yesterday we were together in Goa at Khushboo Sundar’s daughter’s wedding. We were laughing, joking and getting photographed together. Bhagyaraj garu looked completely full of life and happiness. It is hard to believe to hear the news of his demise this morning.” Let us tell you that K. Bhagyaraj’s demise comes just 17 days after the demise of his mentor and veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja. Filmmaker Bharathiraja died at the age of 84 on June 10, 2026 due to prolonged illness and age-related complications.
