During these months of rainy season, since ancient times, sages and sages used to stay at one place and do chanting, penance, self-study and discourses. Lord Vishnu going into Yoga Nidra also gives us the message that we should take some time out from the hustle and bustle of life, look within ourselves and focus on spiritual progress.

It is believed that by fasting and worshiping with devotion on this day, one gets virtue equal to many yagyas. Lord Shri Krishna also explained the importance of this fast to Dharamraj Yudhishthir and described it as giving salvation.
method of worship
On the day of Devshayani Ekadashi, wake up early in the morning and take bath and wear clean or yellow clothes. After this worship Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi. Offer them yellow flowers, incense sticks and basil leaves. Chanting the mantra Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya on this day is considered very auspicious. Also, reciting or listening to Vishnu Sahasranama gives special virtuous results.
spiritual significance
Devshayani Ekadashi teaches us that life is not only for material pleasures, but also for spiritual peace and spiritual practice. When God himself goes into Yoga Nidra, it is a sign that humans should also look within themselves for some time and try to improve their thoughts and actions. True fasting is not just giving up food, but bringing kindness in the mind, sweetness in speech and honesty in deeds. This is considered the true worship of Lord Vishnu.
