The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has declared the results of Class 10th ‘Second Board Examination 2026’ on July 18, 2026. Under the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, CBSE had started the historic system of conducting board examinations for class 10th twice a year from the year 2026.
Under this new arrangement, the main examination was held from 17 February to 11 March 2026, after which the ‘Second Board’ examination was conducted from 15 May to 21 May 2026 to improve performance and for compartment students. Students who have participated in this examination can check their scorecard immediately by visiting the official result portal of DigiLocker, results.digilocker.gov.in.
The ‘best’ score from the two exams will be considered.
The biggest relief that students have got from this new policy is that for the final result of the regular students who had appeared in both the examinations, the marks in which of the two examinations they have performed better in will be considered final. With this rule, the mental pressure of board exams has reduced to a great extent on the students.
How was the result this time?
According to the official data released by CBSE, the performance of the students in the second board examination has been excellent. A total of 6,64,027 students had registered for this examination, out of which 6,63,777 students appeared in the examination. There were a total of 5,13,955 students who appeared for the examination with the intention of improving their scores. Of these, 3,08,095 students (59.95%) have improved their scores as compared to their main examination.
surge in compartment category
1,49,822 students appeared in the compartment category, out of which 78,503 students (52.40%) have been declared passed. The thing to note is that in the year 2025 the pass percentage of compartment was only 48.68%, in which there has been a big improvement this time. After combining the results of main board examination and second board examination, the total overall pass percentage of CBSE 10th for the year 2026 is 96.78%.
