All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has come in support of actor Rahul Roy amid criticism of his viral video. The association has also written a letter to PM Narendra Modi demanding pension and medical insurance for artists above 60 years of age. AICWA wrote in its tweet, the journey of becoming a star has been changing with time. From Rajesh Khanna to Shahrukh Khan, and now actors like Ranveer Singh, every era has had its icons. Among these, Rahul Roy made his own identity with the huge success of the 1990 film Aashiqui and became the face of his generation. Recently Rahul Roy shared a video on the famous song Tere Dar Par Sanam, but sadly some people made fun and trolled him. This behavior is wrong and insensitive. The tweet further read, He never tried to gain popularity by using dirty lyrics, distorting songs or making crude jokes, which has become common these days. Rahul Roy has always maintained respect and honesty in his work. He never made fun of anyone or distorted the art to attract attention. His words show his strength, self-respect and determination to keep working despite difficult circumstances. The association also said that we have written a letter to Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding to start pension and medical insurance for artists above 60 years of age. Many senior artists in Bollywood and regional film industries struggle with financial and health problems as they get less work as they age. This truth cannot be ignored. The association has appealed to Bollywood to give work to Rahul Roy in good projects. Film ‘Aashiqui’ fame Rahul Roy recently wrote an emotional post reacting to a video that went viral with a content creator. The actor wrote on the official Instagram account, I do my work with honesty and humility. I have to pay for some legal matters and these are not from today, these are from the time when the brain stroke happened, before that. If you make fun of my simplicity or laugh at my struggles, it says less about me and more about you. He further wrote, If you are really so worried, then help me to get some real and good work, so that I can pay for these matters. At least I am earning by working hard, not by making fun of others and after the brain stroke, it is important for me to remain active. I want to work as long as I live. It keeps my mind active and gives me a sense of purpose and responsibility that I am still working today. Yes, it may hurt a little sometimes, but you can’t break me. This video of Rahul Roy was shared with the handle named Dr. Vanita Ghadge Desai. In this, Rahul was seen with the content creator on the song ‘Tere Dar Pe Sanam’. This song is from the 1993 film ‘Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayi’, in which Pooja Bhatt was with Rahul. Bollywood came out in support of Rahul Roy, while many Bollywood celebs came in his support by commenting on Rahul Roy’s post. Filmmaker Farah Khan commented and called him ‘good luck’. At the same time, Sonu Sood described Rahul as his brother and wrote, ‘Keep rocking brother’. Actor Anupam Kher also encouraged Rahul and called him the ‘best’. Whereas, Shilpa Shirodkar said that we should do what is important for us, let people talk. Apart from these, artists like Nikitin Dheer, Tina Dutta, Karanvir Bohra and Mahika Sharma also prayed for Rahul and expressed their love for him.
