‘Guru Dakshina means flag’: Priyank Kharge levels ‘money laundering racket’ charge against RSS | India News
New Delhi: Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge accused on Sunday Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Being indulging in “money laundering”, questions have been raised about his source of income and why he is not paying taxes.Addressing a gathering at an event here, Kharge alleged financial irregularities and demanded greater accountability from the agency.“It (RSS) has a network of more than 2,500 organizations, they are from America, England. They take money from them. I am saying — that these people are involved in money laundering,” he said.Questioning the source of its funding, he added, “They want us to be good citizens, pay income tax, but they want to be independent. How is that possible. We have to ask that question.”Kharge said the same laws and constitution that apply to everyone in the country should also apply to the RSS. Later, while talking to reporters, he pointed out that the RSS is an unregistered organization and “are they above the law or the Constitution.”“It is good that all organizations should come under law and constitution, be it RSS or any other organization. Are they above law and constitution. Mohan Bhagwat (RSS chief) said it (RSS) is an organization of individuals. So Bangalore Club, are they not registered? Are they not paying tax?” He asked more.Referring to the question of why the RSS was unregistered, he said, “Where is their Guru Dakshina (donation) coming from?”Kharge said, “If we ask about the source of RSS’s money, they tell us that we will get Guru Dakshin. But, when I did some research, according to them, Guru Dakshin means ‘flag’. So, tomorrow morning if I too hoist the blue flag and collect money, I will ask the government and they (RSS) agree.” So no one can avoid baseless talk. Henceforth, I will not give up until this RSS organization is registered under the constitution and law.““Who is paying it? Why is it (RSS) not paying taxes? When every penny of others is being accounted for, there is no accountability for their (RSS) money,” he questioned.Regarding patriotism, Kharge criticized the organization and said, “For 52 years, the RSS has not hoisted the national flag in its office. They teach us patriotism.”“Ramayana written by Valmiki is different; what is happening now is different. Politicians and religious leaders are talking about religion as they wish. No religion incites violence. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, who says one should have three children, is not getting married. But he is talking about bringing up other people’s children. Thus, BJP is constantly talking and talking about the outside poor, sending out K-Hari’s children.Meanwhile, Kharge launched a scathing attack on Vir Savarkar’s demands for the Bharat Ratna, asking why a man who, according to him, had “worked against India” should be given the country’s highest civilian honour. In a post shared on X, Kharge posted a long list of questions targeting Savarkar’s role during the freedom struggle. His attack came in response to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s comments on February 8 at a two-day lecture series titled ‘100 Years of Sangh Yatra – New Horizons’. Asked about the delay in honoring Savarkar, Bhagwat said the award would enhance the status of the Bharat Ratna itself. Bhagwat also said that he was not in the decision-making committee but would raise the issue if given an opportunity.
