New Delhi: Indigo From Wednesday (February 11), pilots will conduct flights as required by new safety-enhancing flight duty rules. The dispensation given by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to the airline to follow the Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL) for Airbus A320 family pilots ended on Tuesday. It was granted in early December 2025, to enable the airline to recover its collapsed schedule as IndiGo canceled thousands of flights during the peak travel months affecting millions of passengers.“IndiGo has informed the DGCA that it will be fully prepared to comply with the statutory provisions and implement the sanctioned FDTL scheme after the expiry of the concession period. IndiGo has also said that all necessary operational, rostering and monitoring arrangements are being made to ensure full compliance with the sanctioned FDTL scheme,” said a Feb201 statement from the DGCA effective Wednesday.Sharing a “status update”, the regulator said the one-time exemption was granted to IndiGo on December 5, 2025, “in view of the airline’s massive flight disruption in the early days of December 2025… with a view to stabilizing flight operations and safeguarding the safety and interests of passengers.” The offer is “valid for a limited time only until February 10, 2026.”“…concessions were granted subject to certain conditions (eg) submission of hourly flight operation data to DGCA and weekly/fortnightly reports on operational performance. During the validity of the concession, Indigo flight operations were closely monitored through periodic review meetings with DGCA. Further, DGCA officers were deployed to airlift passengers to various locations and addresses. Additionally, Flight Operations Inspector (FOL) was stationed at the IndiGo Operations Control Center for real-time monitoring of flight operations, ensuring continuous regulatory oversight during the exemption period,” the statement added.
