Production’s clarification on the allegation of making Queen-2 without permission: Said- This is not a sequel-prequel, no one has the right on the title, a case of Rs 250 crore has been filed
Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film is surrounded by controversies. Phantom Studio has claimed that this is a sequel to their film Queen, which is being made illegally by Jio Star (Star Studio 18) without their permission. Phantom Studio has also filed a lawsuit of Rs 250 crore against Jio Star, although now the production in the matter has termed all the claims as baseless. He says that Kangana’s upcoming film is not a sequel to Queen. Jio Studio’s statement reads, “Star Studio 18 (Star Studios) is currently working on a new film with Kangana Ranaut. This is a completely original and independent story. It has no connection with the story, characters or creative aspects of any previous film. It is neither a sequel nor a prequel to any existing film.” Defending the use of the word ‘Queen’ in the film’s title, the company said, “‘Queen’ is a common word in the English language. No party can have exclusive or monopolistic rights over this common word and such a claim is not tenable in law. JioStar is fully aware of this legal dispute and will vigorously defend its case through the appropriate legal process. We are confident of the strength of our case.” Know what is the whole controversy? Some time ago, Kangana Ranaut shared a photo on social media, in which she told that the shooting of her upcoming film has been completed. Queen was written in the post, after which it was speculated that this is the shooting of Queen 2. Phantom Studio, which produced Queen, opposed this and filed a lawsuit of Rs 250 crore in the Bombay High Court after unsuccessful attempts by Jio Star to negotiate. Allegations have been made in the petition that Jio Star has made this film without permission, while its rights, including the rights of the sequel, are with Phantom. The film was the story of a simple girl, Rani, whose boyfriend refuses to marry her just before her wedding.
