While taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant Sanjeev Rai in exchange for removing his name from an assault case, he was arrested red-handed at the police post. The victim Sanjeev Rai had already given Rs 60,000 to the two policemen to get the names of his two sons and their three friends removed from the false case, but when the accused harassed him for more money, he lodged a written complaint with the anti-corruption team. Both the accused, who were caught after laying a trap, were brought to Sadar Bazar police station, where a case has been registered against them and further legal action is being taken.

Complainant Sanjeev Rai told that about two months ago, a case of assault was registered against his sons and friends, although he was not present there at the time of the incident. Even after giving the pendrive as evidence, investigator/post in-charge Omkar and constable Shashank Tripathi had already collected Rs 60 thousand by calling the children in the name of removing the names.
And were continuously pressurizing for money
From the very next day of taking the money, the policemen started harassing the victim’s family again and started demanding another Rs 40 to 50 thousand. After much pleading, the accused outpost in-charge and the constable agreed to settle the matter by taking Rs 10,000 more. After this, the victim became upset and complained about it to the anti-corruption team on the 4th.
Inspector and constable caught red handed after laying a trap
As per the decided strategy, as soon as Sanjeev Rai went to the post and handed over Rs 10,000 to the post in-charge, the alert anti-corruption team caught both of them. The team recovered the bribe money from the constable. Jhansi Police media cell informed through ‘X’ (Twitter) that a case is being registered against both of them at Sadar Bazar police station and action is being taken to send them to jail.
