बागी हुईं ममता की भाभी? माला रॉय संग शुभेंदु अधिकारी के कार्यक्रम में पहुंचीं – Mamata Banerjee Sister in law kajri banerjee rebel mala roy tmc leaders suvendhu ntc rttm
Mamata Banerjee’s party Trinamool Congress has disintegrated after the defeat in the West Bengal Assembly elections. Two-thirds of their MPs and MLAs have broken down. Meanwhile, former CM Mamata Banerjee’s sister-in-law Kajri Banerjee and many former TMC councilors attended a program organized at Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) on Monday.
Chief Minister in this program Shubhendu Adhikari Also participated. This was the first official visit of Subhendu Adhikari to Kolkata Municipal Corporation after becoming the Chief Minister. This development has happened at a time when, just a day before, 20 rebel TMC MPs merged with the Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI) and supported the NDA at the Centre.
Former KMC president and TMC MP from Kolkata South Mala Roy also participated in the KMC program. Mala Roy is one of the rebel MPs of TMC. Interestingly, former Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim also participated in this program.
Firhad Hakim had resigned from the post of mayor earlier this month. Days after Firhad Hakim’s resignation, the Bengal government on June 9 dissolved the TMC-controlled board and appointed an administrator.
Mala Roy, Firhad Hakim and several leaders associated with the previous TMC-run board were present at the event to share the stage with CM Subhendu Adhikari, while former BJP councilors occupied seats in the entire auditorium.
In this program, former councilor of Ward 73 and Mamata Banerjee Kajri Banerjee, sister-in-law, said that they were called to discuss civic issues and development plans. He told reporters, as councillors, we have been called for whatever little tenure we have left so that the development work continues without any hindrance. It is a good thing that the Chief Minister has also called the opposition members.
Apart from Kajri Banerjee, former councilor Debashish Kumar, Ananya Banerjee, Jui Biswas and Aseem Bose also attended the event. He stressed that the purpose of his presence was to ensure continuity of civil services and not to signal any political change. Still, the scene was special because KMC has long been considered one of TMC’s strongest strongholds.
The presence of Mala Roy gave it even more political importance. Roy, the former KMC chairperson and a major face of TMC in Kolkata politics, is now part of the group of rebel MPs who have decided to support the NDA. This decision of the rebels has caused the biggest split within the Parliament in the history of the party.
Although Monday’s event officially focused on the ‘Swachhata Se Swagat’ campaign and urban governance issues, images from the event reflected the new political reality of Bengal, where administrative cooperation is increasingly intertwined with the rapidly changing opposition landscape.
