NCW Notice to Praneet More, Himanshu Jangra Over Comedian Controversy

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken suo motu cognizance of the controversy related to comedian Pranit More’s stand-up comedy show in Gurugram. In the case of 370 biryani video, the Commission has issued hearing notice to Pranit More and Himanshu Jangra. The hearing of the case has been fixed before the Commission on June 22 at 4 pm.
According to news agency PTI, NCW said that there is serious concern over the content of the viral video and its presentation as entertainment.
Taking the matter seriously, NCW President Vijaya Rahatkar has written a letter to the Director General of Police, Haryana. He has demanded quick, strict and time-bound action in the matter. The Commission has also asked for a complete report from the police on the action taken within seven days.
The Commission has sought information related to the status of FIR registered, action taken under the Indian Code of Justice (BNS) and other applicable laws, investigation and verification of the viral video, and the role of organisers, artistes and venue management.
Let us tell you that viewer Himanshu Jangra had made objectionable comments in Pranit More’s show. After this video went viral on social media, Himanshu and Praneet were criticized. AIMSA called the comment derogatory
At the same time, All India Medical Students Association (AIMSA) has condemned the comments made by MBBS student Sejal Pawar on cadaver and body donors during Pranit More’s second stand-up show.
AIMSA said that making dead bodies and body donors the subject of entertainment or comedy is insensitive and insulting. According to the organization, every body donor plays an important role in training future doctors and saving lives by contributing to medical education.
The association said that making fun of dead bodies or taking them lightly is not acceptable and lowers the dignity of medical education. AIMSA demanded an immediate apology and strict action from the people concerned. The association warned that it could take legal action if proper action was not taken.
Maharashtra Cyber registered FIR Maharashtra Cyber has registered an FIR against comedian Pranit More, Himanshu Jangra, Dr. Sejal Pawar and others involved.
The FIR has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) 2023 and Section 67 of the IT Act 2000. It is alleged that the show and its related online videos contained objectionable comments about women, consent and dead people.
