A tragic accident took place on Thursday in the under construction ATS Picturesque Reprieve project located in Sector-152, Greater Noida. Two laborers working on the 37th floor of tower number 23 fell from height. Both were seriously injured in the accident and were immediately taken to the hospital, but they died during treatment.

There was chaos at the construction site after the incident. Fellow laborers and employees associated with the project immediately started relief and rescue operations. After receiving the information, Knowledge Park police station also reached the spot and started investigating the matter. According to the police, the accident happened around 12:45 pm on Thursday. Information was received that two laborers have fallen from height while working in the under construction ATS project located in Sector-152.

Safety belt broken while shuttering work

Preliminary investigation has revealed that both the workers were doing shuttering work on the 37th floor of tower number-23. During this time, the safety belt installed for his protection suddenly broke.

As soon as the safety belt broke, both the workers lost balance and fell down from the height. The accident was so serious that both of them suffered serious injuries on the spot.

The construction company employees and other laborers took both the injured to the hospital without any delay. Although the doctors tried their best to save them, both of them died during treatment.

Both the laborers were residents of West Bengal.

The deceased laborers have been identified as 24-year-old Raisul Haq and 45-year-old Abdul Samad. Raisul Haq was a resident of Jibramar Kuthi Phuleshwari village of Cooch region of West Bengal and was currently living in Kondli Market.

Whereas, Abdul Samad was a resident of Kharija Phuleshwari Putimari area of ​​Cooch Behar district of West Bengal. Presently he was working as a laborer while living in Kundli.

Both the workers were associated with the construction work for a long time and were working on the tower as part of regular duty at the time of the incident.

Police started investigation, security standards will be investigated

As soon as information about the incident was received, Knowledge Park police station reached the spot and inspected the spot. The police have taken both the bodies into their custody and sent them for post-mortem.

Besides, the families of the deceased have also been informed about the incident. Police officials say that all necessary legal action is being taken in the matter.

Initially, the cause of the accident is believed to be breakage of safety belt, but the police and concerned departments are investigating the entire matter in detail.

Questions were also raised on safety standards

After this tragic accident, questions have started being raised regarding the security arrangements at the construction site. The investigating agencies are trying to find out whether the safety equipment provided to the workers was as per the prescribed standards or not.

Police officials said that it will also be investigated whether all the rules related to worker safety were being followed at the construction site or not. If negligence is found at any level, action will be taken against the concerned parties.

DCP Greater Noida Praveen Ranjan Singh told that while working on a tower in a society under Knowledge Park police station area, two workers fell from the 37th floor due to safety belt breaking. Both were immediately taken to the hospital for treatment, where doctors declared them dead. Police have registered a case under relevant sections and both the bodies have been sent for post-mortem. It has also come to light that the brother of one of the deceased laborers is a contractor. Both the laborers were residents of West Bengal. Police is taking further action in the matter.
