Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has been banned by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE). This decision was taken on Monday evening on the complaint of actor-director Farhan Akhtar.
Actually, after the success of Dhurandhar, Ranveer Singh had suddenly decided to walk out of his film ‘Don 3’. Farhan had complained about this to FWICE.
Farhan says that the pre-production of the film had started, after which Ranveer left the film. Due to this the film makers have suffered a loss of Rs 45 crore.
Federation President VN Tiwari told Dainik Bhaskar that attempts were made to talk to Ranveer thrice on this matter, but he did not respond. After this, FWICE has issued a non-cooperation directive (instruction not to work with him) against Ranveer Singh.

Three reminders were sent to Ranveer
FWICE President said- The Federation sent reminders to Ranveer on 22 April, 30 April and 13 May 2026. Ranveer Singh replied that FWICE is not the right forum to resolve the problems of complainants. According to the actor, this entire matter is related to the terms of the contract and for this we will have to approach the appropriate legal forum or court.
Farhan had announced Don-3 in 2023
Farhan Akhtar had announced the film Don-3 with actor Ranveer Singh in the year 2023. This was going to be the third film of this franchise after Shahrukh starrer Don in 2006 and Don-2 in 2011.
Kiara Advani was cast in the film at the time of announcement. But due to pregnancy and maternity break, Kiara left the film, after which there were reports of Kriti Sanon being cast.
Farhan Akhtar was making this film under the banner of home production Excel Entertainment. To continue with Don-3, Farhan postponed his second film Jee Le Zara.

When the film got delayed, Ranveer Singh got busy with Dhurandhar. There were reports that the shooting of Don 3 would start in 2025, but then suddenly Ranveer Singh left the film. The makers allege that Ranveer was interfering in the script. He was demanding abusive and violent scenes, but the makers did not agree to it.
Midday’s report claimed that Ranveer has left the film and will soon return the signing amount of the film, whereas the makers had already spent on the film due to pre-production, delays and re-work.
On this, Farhan Akhtar complained to the Producers Guild and demanded damages of Rs 45 crore. He said that he has suffered huge losses due to changes in pre-production and shooting schedules.
Then Aamir Khan also tried to intervene, but things did not work out. The Producers Guild also gave time for reconciliation to both the parties, but a solution was still not found.

Ranveer Singh’s team said – they are silent after thinking
Ranveer Singh’s spokesperson said- Ranveer Singh wholeheartedly respects every person associated with the film industry and ‘Don’ franchise. Whatever has happened recently regarding ‘Don 3’, he thought it best to remain silent after careful consideration. He believes that work-related matters and relationships should always be handled with dignity, understanding and mutual respect.
Meanwhile, many things and rumors have come to light, but Ranveer never considered it necessary to give any clarification on this publicly or promote these speculations. His entire focus is completely on his work and upcoming projects.
He has respect for everyone associated with this film and wants this franchise to be very successful in the future. It has always been his decision to maintain restraint and decency at such difficult times, and he will continue to maintain the same stance in future too.”
Now understand what is FWICE? What effect will the ban have on Ranveer?
Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) is the largest organization protecting the interests of workers and artistes of the film industry. It was started in the year 1956 and was registered in 1958.
- Mother Body: This federation mainly works like a mother body (apex organization). A total of 34 different associations come under this.
- Number of members: About 4 to 5 lakh members of 34 associations like actors, directors, producers, cameramen, technicians, junior artists and spotboys are associated with it.
- scope: It is the largest film federation in Asia. At present, about 90 percent of the people working in the film industry are members of the associations associated with this federation. It has its own constitution, which is necessary for all members to follow.
Shooting gets canceled if federation stops working
FWICE has great power to control the working environment of the film industry.
- Stopping work: If the federation stops its 4 to 5 lakh members from working on any project, then the shooting of films and TV shows will completely stop from the very next day.
- Collecting Payment: The federation resolves money disputes between makers and actors. For example, some time ago producer Firoz Nadiadwala did not pay around Rs 3 crore to the crew members after a film. The Federation instructed all the members not to work before the shooting of his next film ‘Welcome to Jungle’. After this, under pressure from the production company and the federation, Firoz Nadiadwala had to pay the old dues.
- Right of action: The Federation can declare any association or member as non-member if it acts against the Constitution.

What will be the impact on Ranveer’s upcoming films?
Due to this instruction, there may be problems in the production of new projects and films of Ranveer Singh. Ranveer Singh’s upcoming films include ‘King’ (special cameo), next big project with director Aditya Dhar, a film with Kiara Advani and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Baiju Bawra’.
Shooting interruption: 90 percent of the technicians, junior artists and crew members working in Ranveer’s films which are yet to be shot are associated with this federation. Due to non-cooperation instructions, these workers may refuse to work on Ranveer’s sets, due to which the shooting may stop.
Makers’ problems: It will be difficult for other producers who are planning a new film with Ranveer to take the work forward. He may need to obtain No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the federation before starting the film. Until this dispute is resolved, Ranveer’s new projects may be put on hold.
